The invaluable positive effects of flowers on people unable to get together with family and friends superseded the desire for profit. One recipient of a birthday bouquet was so overwhelmed with happiness as George hand-delivered her blooms that she began to cry. After not seeing anyone for a long while, a "handsome man delivering flowers" to her was priceless. For almost an hour, the two sat outside and enjoyed a lovely conversation and genuine human connection - brought about through flowers.
Supporting Local - Small businesses would be nothing without the support of their local community. For George's Flowers, returning that support is imperative. From sourcing locally when possible, building a team from residents, working with local vendors, and donating time and resources to the community, there is always a way to give back to the local economy. George and the team enjoy volunteering at community organizations like the Bradley Free Clinic and local animal shelters. In addition, they spend hours creating floral pieces for goodwill initiatives like Petal it Forward and events like the Annual Thanksgiving Feast at Roanoke's Rescue Mission. In conjunction with the staff's volunteer efforts at local animal shelters, $5 of every dog-shaped floral design is donated to organizations supporting animals in need.
